Marche’ Moderene will be hosting a special “Friends of James Beard Dinner.” Chef-Proprietors of Marche’, Amelia and Florent Marneau have an incredible evening planned for the fundraiser dinner guests. On Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 6:30 PM, 100 guests will have an opportunity to indulge in a five course-tasting menu paired with exquisite wines donated by local distributors and winemakers. Proceeds from the fundraiser dinner will help the James Beard Foundation continue to carry out it’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor America’s diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire.
Marche’ Moderne, at the Penthouse at South Coast Plaza, has been haled as “probably the best bistro in Southern California” by the Los Angeles Times by S. Irene Virbila. Orange County Register restaurant critic Brad Johnson awarded Marche’ “Best Restaurant in OC” and Pulitzer Prize winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold, named Marche’ in LA Times “101 Best Restaurants.” These exceptional awards come as no surprise as a result of the Marneaus’s passion for market-inspired ingredients and classic French cooking techniques with modern touches at their beloved restaurants.
South Coast Plaza is the presenting sponsor for the evening and a silent auction will raise additional funds to support the James Beard Foundation educational outreach. The proceeds from the silent auction will fund a local Marche’ Moderne scholarship for a promising culinary talent. The silent auction will include ten luxury items. Including a year of weekly Spontane’ Lunches for two at Marche’ Moderne, a gift certificate and annual valet pass for South Coast Plaza, a night’s accommodations and dinner for two at STUDIO featuring the Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, a two night stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, a Salmanazar (9liters) of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte Brut donated by Nicolas Feuillatte and Southern Wine and Spirits paired with champagne flutes from Baccarat, and more.
Additional sponsors Santa Monica Seafood, Newport Meat Company, LA & SF Specialty and Danko Foods will provide donations- in- kind for the dinner. The dinner, wine pairings, taxes, and gratuity is $300 and $275 for James Beard Members. To make reservations, for this one-of-a-kind evening, please contact Nadine Hotong at 714.434.7900.
