Poutine is a deliciously savory dish.  Traditionally, it is the combination of french fries, cheese curds, and gravy. A decadent Canadian creation, poutine originated in Quebec and it has spread across Canada as an adored junk food. Despite its popularity, poutine is a rare find in the United States. Orange County is lucky enough to be home to multiple restaurants that feature the delectable dish.  Here are some of our favorites.

The KroftThe Kroft at Anaheim Packing House Typically, The Kroft will have a line, but it is worth the wait.  The Kroft has five different Poutines to choose from including: Classic, Loco Moco, Braised Shortrib, Chicken Fried, and the ever-popular Chicken Pot Fries. The Chicken Pot Fries taste just like a homemade potpie. The perfectly seasoned crispy fries are smothered in juicy chicken, fresh peas, carrots, pearl onions, rich cheese curds and potpie roux. The secret recipe fries are perfectly cooked crunchy wedges that serve as a base to flavorful gravy, slices of all natural pork belly, cheese curds and topped with a duck fat fried egg. Depending on what time of year you visit Haven, variations include: oxtail, tripe, lamb, duck confit, and beef cheek. They currently have an organic New Zealand Wagyu beef cheek. QuebecQuebec Montreal Poutine No need for your passport, just take a quick trip to Newport Beach for a taste of Quebec. Quebec Montreal Poutine has four different authentic French Canadian Poutine options: Classic Poutine, Smoked Meat Poutine, Meat Lovers Poutine, and Big Guy Poutine.  They even have a weekly special. Every Wednesday any of the poutines and a drink is just $5! This is a real steal considering the owner imports the cheese curds and gravy from Quebec. Photo Credit: Quebec Montreal Poutine
